From Osaka Castle Park to Global Rock Royalty

In August 2006, four high school girls in Osaka—HARUNA, MAMI, TOMOMI, and RINA—met at a local dance and vocal studio and were encouraged to pick up rock instruments. With no prior instrumental experience, they practiced relentlessly and began street busking every weekend at Osaka Castle Park (Shiroten).

Their raw energy, catchy garage punk riffs, and infectious synchronized vocals quickly created a grassroots sensation. Before even graduating high school, SCANDAL toured internationally across the US, France, and Hong Kong, earning the New Artist Award at the Japan Record Awards upon their major label debut.

Anime Anthems & Mainstream Triumph

SCANDAL became the soundtrack to a generation of global anime fans through monumental theme songs, including:

  • "Shojo S" & "HARUKAZE": Opening theme songs for legendary anime series BLEACH.
  • "Shunkan Sentimental": The iconic ending theme for Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

Guinness World Record & Complete Artistic Freedom

In August 2023, SCANDAL celebrated their 17th anniversary with a historic milestone: they were officially certified by Guinness World Records for the "Longest running rock band with the same female members".

Having established their own private imprint label, "her" (under Victor Entertainment), the four members write, arrange, and produce all of their material, evolving seamlessly from teenage pop-punk into sophisticated, riff-heavy alternative rock and power pop.
